He presented on the topic Consulting and Personal Branding

1)CONSULTING:-

In this he discussed what are the requirements to be a consultant .He told that MS Office is of prime importance .One must have the skills  on  Word, Excel and PowerPoint. In the job of consultant it is 80% communication, 5% research. Research is not that important for a consultant. One should know the shortcuts and formulas in Excel,PowerPoint,Word to create a good presentation.

He emphasized that if someone wants to make a carreer in Supply Chain ,he must have good knowledge of excel.

For Proposals: - PowerPoint or Word

For Reports: - PowerPoint or Word

For Executive Briefing :-PowerPoint

For DPR: -Word

For Work Papers: -Excel or Word

He also mentioned to use hierarchial structure to organize our ideas and supporting evidence. We should follow IDFL and MECE techniques.

IDFL:-We should organize according to Ideas, Data ,Facts and Logic

MECE:

He introduced the jargon MECE: Mutually Exclusive and Collectively Exhaustive. It signifies that all the points we are using are relevant and don’t repeat themselves. This increases the impact of the report. Our points together should exhaustively cover the whole content. If we follow this approach in writing a report, we shall have a higher impact on the audience.

For effective communication, he mentioned that we should start with a key message. Multiple supporting arguments should be provided for our case. These arguments should be individually supported by Ideas, Data, Facts and Logic. Every point should be MECE and unique. At the end, we should use a strong summarizing statement. This approach will help us communicate our idea better to the audience.

To make higher impact he gave advises like put pictures on right side and text on left side. Also added that one should put a quotation, or a question, video to engage the audience.

2)PERSONAL BRANDING: -

Players, Fans Urge BCCI To Retire MS Dhoni's Number Seven Jersey ...

He said how number 7 has become a personal brand for Dhoni.

He gave his life example how personal branding helped him in his job. He has been writing blogs from 2004 and because of that he got many works.

How to build a personal brand? Which are the media?

Blog
Youtube
Instagram
Twitter
Facebook

He emphasized that in this era one must have blog, Facebook or twitter account or a you tube channel. He gave an example of Product Manager who has 5000 followers in twitter and all the followers were people related to her work.

Because of writing blogs he connected and networked with many people whom he didn't know personally.

He mentioned that there are some content in his blogs which is only the source of information in the internet.

He ended the lecture with example of Bimal Kartheek the founder of Trell who was able to raise  $11.4 million who is also an alumnus of NITIE.
